“Some of these clicks are accidents,” Sam says.
Sam’s boss stares at her blankly.
“You’ve never accidentally clicked on an ad?”
More blank stare.
“I don’t think I’ve ever purposely clicked on a banner ad.”
Raised eyebrows.
“There’s a lot of ad fraud out there.”
A middle-management-frown begins to form.
“I don’t mean to waste your time.”
A face that asks why its time is being wasted.
Sam nods, backs away, shuffles away, goes away, back to her desk to buy more banner ads.
Buy the ads so you can buy groceries she tells herself.
